I knocked out my 5th workout in 50 hours this morning.

Why am I telling you this?

Well, I’m really proud of that & I want to share it. 🙂

But the real reason is that I’m training for the Western States 100 in June.

I ran a 50k two weeks ago – a check on my progress. It’s fun to race & a 50k is a big deal. I celebrated with Chinese takeout, a Pliny the Elder & ice cream.

Last week was a recovery week – fewer miles, more rest. REAL training kicked off this week.

5 workouts in 50 hours was a way to push myself back to focus and regimen.

It’s fun to celebrate. We all NEED to celebrate our wins.

But it’s easy to languish a little long and forget the bigger goal.

For me, that’s finishing the Western States 100 in under 24 hours.

You’ll get the big wins – your first 6-figure deal or that funding round. Celebrate!

Just don’t forget the bigger picture.

For me, that meant doing more than the plan this week – a second run on Monday. Extra miles today.

I wanted, and needed, to get focused for these last 7 training weeks.

The clock’s ticking.
